What is the functional group in nail polish?

Nail polish is mostly water, but the effective ingredient is acetone, a ketone with the formula:

CH3 - CO - CH3

where CO is a carbon double-bound to an oxygen (a carbonyl). What is the functional group in nail polish?
i don't no but nail polish sure is pretty!

What gets old nail polish out of canvas shoes?

thanks! What makeup and nail polish should i wear with this? pic?
thats such a cute dress!!!! do a black and grey smokey eye shadow looks and do a black liquid liner on the top with a cat-eye look. then for nailpolich do black tips, or if you don't have longish nails then do all black. :] cute outfit tho!!;)What makeup and nail polish should i wear with this? pic?
if you're going to wear a black and blue dress you should either wear blue or black nail polish, and black eyeliner with blue eye shadow on your lids. Or it all dependes on what you're wearing the dress for, if you're wearing it for something special then wear more makeup but if you're just wearing the dress because you feel like wearing it then don't wear to much makeup.
This is what I would wear, You should wear a shimmery goldish brown nuetral color for your eyeshadow. I think that you should also make a darker color at the end of your eyelid, then use some liquid eyeliner and make a wing at the end (;

goodluckkk honey,

btw I have that top.
Just wear lots of eyeliner and paint ur nails blue, same shade as dress, and the converses would look so cute with that dress. i have red converses high tops and i just love them. have fun for school.!
first of all LOVEEE the dress. andd some blue eyeshadow would look sweet and black nail polish im alittle obsessed with black nail polish though :P
wear electric blue eyeshadow, eyeliner, and nail polish. Just use a light lip gloss for lips..=]
TURQUIOSE BUT NOT SO MUCH!!

What is the PH level of nail polish?

nail polish would not have a pH level unless it was an aqueous solution with H+ and OH- ions, which it isn't. If nail polish had a pH, it would wash right off.

Nail polish never seems to dry?

I love painting my nails, but I sometimes want to put 2 or 3 coats of polish on. I can never seem to get it to where it dries completely. Should I wait until the first coat is completely dry before putting the second coat on? I have tried quick drying nail polish and everything, but I think I'm just doing it wrong! hahaNail polish never seems to dry?
You have to wait for each coat to dry before you put on the next coat. Wait like 20 min or so before putting on the 2nd and 3rd coat! :)Nail polish never seems to dry?
Buy some quality nail polish.

Put on the first coat lightly

after the first coat has been applied put on the second coat and fill in the gaps.

After this dries a little bit, the third coat should be Clear Nail polish for that extra glossy look and coat of protection.
yea wait untill its totally dry....either that or the nail polish ur using is old and needs to be replaced

Do you use nail polish? What color do you prefer?

    Nail Polish Color Suggestions?

I am 17 and going to college next year. I have been trying to find the perfect nail polish for me. I want a color thats not to dark like black and not to light like a pink because I want my nails to look pretty and sophisticated not cute and childish? I also want to find a color that goes with every outfit. I was thinking maybe a classic red or a french manicure using pink tones? Any suggestions are much appreciated!Nail Polish Color Suggestions?

Can you ';do your nails'; without nail polish?

I don't have any nail polish (My parents are REALLY old fashioned), I have: lotion, Q-tips, um...well wht I'm trying to say is what are some simple, home-made nail care regimens? Can you ';do your nails'; without nail polish?
    Well,

    try this.

You need lemon, salt, a bowl and vanilla essence.

    You mix that together,

and place your finger nails in that bowl.

    it a great deal!

My bong kinda broke so i glued the pieces back with a clear nail polish...?

now im trippin tho cause i want to hit it but i dont kno if its ';dangerous'; or whatever since i wouldnt ONLY be inhaling weed.. so if i wash it with water and wait an hour after it was put on, would it be good to go?

    lemme kno soon please..

Geez, just trash it and go buy a new one.

You have no idea what kind of chemical solvents are used in nail polish.

Bongs are bad for your lungs anyway. My bong kinda broke so i glued the pieces back with a clear nail polish...?
My friend broke his bowl and glued it with ceramic glue amd it made him really sick Report Abuse

Yea bad idea with the nail polish, what u need to do is re break it in the same place if at all possible, go get yourself some nontoxic glass glue or if at all possible, if you happen to have a head shop near you in your state, go get a water bong sealant... most quality head shop carry it, and you'll be set, DO NOT USE any household glues such as nail glue or super glue.
dont worry about it, unless the thing was like completely shattered and u used like 10 bottles to put it back together, but unless that happens dont worry

i think the worst that can happen is itd be like smoking 50 cigarettes, and you might start throwing up, go for it it wont kill you, not anymore than weed at least

You should trash it. Clear nail polish will let off a fume when heated. Go buy a new one.
i didnt know clear nailpolish can be used as glue. just throw the bong away and get a new one
make a homemade bong to be safe. and get high quicker. look on youtube. theres dozens of them.

Okay, to answer your question no do not waste your money on low quality nail polish! when i used it the nail polish lasted only 2 days and then when i got into the shower it changed from purple to light pink! Then when i removed the nail polish it left this orange mark on my nails! If you want good quality nail polish go to Sephora and get OPI by Sephora which is:,$9 or go to you local drugstore.
I've bought a lot of Icing's nail polish because I found it bright and I'm in love with neon colors so I normally shoot for there colors. But, when your using the nail polish it's chip resistant if you've ever read the bottle so there's not problem with that. But, you do have to apply a 2nd coat when using it being if you only apply one, you can see through it onto ur nail. Hope this help =) !
I LOVE Icings Nail Polish! I recently bought the neon orange color in a bottle, I put it on, (2 or 3 coats and a clear coat), and it turns out really good! I put my hands under cold water so it can dry quickly.

    I recommend it.

Sally Hanson is a good brand!

And it is not a low quality nail polish like she said ^ (the one up above me)! It's about $4.50 dollars a bottle and it is good! Also, it comes in many cool, bright colors.
no! no! no! they have awesome colors but it chips off literally right after it dries, even though they have some really cute colors i wudn't get it, but wet n' wild and N.Y.C. brand have some really cute colors that last pretty good, and u can get them for 99 cents to about $3.00. Ok hope this helps! :D
I bought some from icing for a friends b-day and when I went to paint her nails with it....it sucked. It was kinda dry and hard to apply.

Buff it down with a light buffing block. How to get nail polish off?
File off the glue with a good nail file then get a 3 way or 5 way buffer and buff all your nails to look shiny and freshly manicured. Just be sure not too file too deep. Just file of the glue and nail polish that will not come off.

Try acetone nail polish remover too.. This might help melt the glue off before filing it down.

If i panited my babies toes & i wanted to remove it,would finger nail polish remover hurt her?

I would use an acetone free polish remover and then be sure to wash her feet well with warm soapy water. We know how babies like to put things in their mouths (including their own feet)If i panited my babies toes %26amp; i wanted to remove it,would finger nail polish remover hurt her?
OK. let's examine your logic. You first painted her toes with all those harsh chemicals and are now worried about the acetone. hmmmm. I would look for a remover that is hypo allergenic as well as acetone free.If i panited my babies toes %26amp; i wanted to remove it,would finger nail polish remover hurt her?
No, but it would be less drying to the skin if you use non-acetone remover.
As long as your not feeding it to her, no.

    thank you!!

    LOL

ohhh n by the way its black nail polish!Nail polish on my mom's carpet...help. pls!?
I agree with Versantl about telling your Mother first.

You didn't mention your age and many of the items suggested may be very inappropriate for you to use - even dangerous.

Let your Mother deal with it. She may be upset, but not as much as she would be if you inhaled the wrong combination of some of these suggested remedies.

Who knows... it might just peel off once it is dry.Nail polish on my mom's carpet...help. pls!?
I posted these instructions last night on this site for someone and they had success. Since you've already tried something, I'm only posting the part of the instructions that apply. Don't expect the stain to come out at the first attempt..it may take several before you get all of it. And work small - use a Q tip to apply so you don't dilute and spread the color.

Alternate acetone nail polish remover and rubbing alcohol. Use one, then the other, blotting in between with an absorbent (cotton) cloth. You may need to alternate several times. Use cotton swabs or an old toothbrush to apply.

If you get the polish out but not all the color, then try saturating the stain with baby shampoo and leave on overnight. Scrub with an old toothbrush and warm water, then use an absorbent cloth to blot up.
with peroxide. Peroxide will remove many fresh stains and is a popular method for removing blood.

    Step2

Next try baking soda. Baking soda is also great for getting oily stains out.

    Step3

There are some products on the market that claim to remove nail polish stains. Try these with caution. Try using them in a corner or closet to make sure they will not remove the dye from your carpet before using on the stain.

    Step4

If all else fails try a Acetone Free Nail Polish Remover. Again test in a closet first before putting directly on the stain.
Acetone might damage the carpet. Use liquid cleaning agents specifically for carpets and spot clean. Try the agent first in a not-so-noticeable part of the carpet to see if there are any negative reactions.

    Check this blog out. http://rugcaremaintenance.wordpress.com/

    Hope it helps.=)
Here is a quality technique for removing nail polish from a carpet. This is best suited for a natural fiber based rug. Best of luck!
I would tell you to use nail polish remover but if the carpet has nylon in it, it could melt the carpet. Can you snip it off with sheers?
If you have Varsol or Turpentine in the house if yes put some on a rag and wipe it off, then wipe it with a cloth or paper towel with white vinegar .
    nail polish remover
before doing anything, inform your mother.
go somewhere and buy a bottle of acetone other than that u are screwed...maybe try goo be gone or whatever its called

Have you used Acquarella, water based nail polish? What did you think?

Hate to break it to everybody but all nail polish comes from the same barrell. Believe it or not the only thing the cosmetic companies own are the names of the color not the actual polish. A friend of mine worked for a company who bottled nail polish for ';Wet and Wild';, ';Mac';, ';Maybelline';, ';Chanel';....the list goes on and on. Don't be fooled.

    Nail polish peeling after applying?

Ok, i paint my nails very vibrant colors. Lime green, neon orange, and/or white and black. So chipping and peeling nail polish only after a few hours or the next day is really annoying. Anyone know exactly what i can do to help this? Also i do often chip the nail polish off after about a week sometimes with my nails, is that causing my future problems? I know i work in a barn, so my nail polish takes A LOT of abuse, but even if i don't work that day, it still chips and peels. Anyone out there who can help? I even tried changing brands thinking it'd work a bit more.Nail polish peeling after applying?
OK!! what you need to do is simply buy a STRONG CLEAR coat...this will help strengthen your nails and prevent the nail polish from peeling!!!!! this works VERY well! u dont need to change brands or anything dramatic as that!

HOPE THIS HELPED!Nail polish peeling after applying?
get better nail polish and get a better top coating polish.
    Them your nail polish sucks.//
apply a top coat of clear polish!
There is a opi product that is called bondaid this is a ph balancer for natural nails and it will help you a lot under the lacquer, try it and you will see.
Scrub your nails in soap and water and dry on a paper towel or clean washcloth. I have had that same problem because the surface of my nails wasn't clean enough and there were some oils on them--so the polish didn't really stick. After you wipe your nails be really careful to keep them clean as you apply your polish, then let dry completely, and keeping that same surface clean apply a clear top coat. Plus, make sure the top coat is a good brand, like Sally Hansen. That should help out a lot.

You also may want to consider getting some gloves for your barn work if it's getting really annoying. (:
well it doesnt do a lot to yur nail to pick nail polish about the chipping i think its just because most little girls use that and the makers think it doesnt need to last long

Unfortunately, no. It makes it all watery and if it's a dark colour then it will go lighter. You could try getting loads of the same nail polish and adding that. Then the water wouldn't be as effective. But I'd just admit you've ruined it and be careful you don't do it again. If I mix water with nail polish by accident, will it still be the same?

If im going to get a pedicure should i take my current nail polish off before i go?

Eh, don't bother - you're paying them enough, and they will do that for you. I'd recommend shaving your legs though. There's nothing more embarrassing than trying to relax only to realize they've rolled your pants up to your knee so as to massage your calf and all as well, and they're now snickering at your considerable stubble, haha.If im going to get a pedicure should i take my current nail polish off before i go?

No... they do that for you.
No, they do that for you but wear flip flops or open toe shoes when you go so you don't ruin your pedicure. also, if they give you a foot massage shave your legs before you go because it is really embassing to have stubble on your legs when they massage your legs.

  • Looking for think brands of nail polish?

i have nail stamper image plates but they need thick nail polish in order to get a good image.do any of you know of any good brands of real thick polish that isnt mad expensive??Looking for think brands of nail polish?
Use an old bottle of polish. There is no ';thick'; nail polish that you can buy. Polish thickens with use. Each time you put the brush back into the bottle, you push in air and the polish thickens. I'm a nail technician

The first one is mine! lolDoes Anybody know any good nail polish Ideas?
i havnt really tried this but it might work.

    1. take a sticker(skinny one) and place it on ur nail. then put clear nailpolish over it to shine and stick. let me repeat i havnt tried this.

    2. stick with simple ideas. like french manicure.

thats all i have for now. this may not help u much though.
always go over your colour with clear to make it stronger andnot chip so quickly.

when you've taken your nail varnish off leave your nails for about 1 week with nothing on them so they can breathe.

    dragons on each fingernail
try any bright eyecatching color with three small white dots in the top corner. i love this look. =]]]]

Where should i keep my nail polish?

after about 3 uses of a brand new bottle of ESSIE, it always turn thick. i keep in frige also in see through drawer, same thing?!Where should i keep my nail polish?
Keep the polish in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. I have kept nail polish for several years with this method.

Hope this helps! : )Where should i keep my nail polish?
Don't store it in the fridge - just at room temperature, out of the sun. Buy some nail polish thinner (not polish remover) and add a few drops to your polishes as needed. Now that most companies are ';big 3 free'; (less chemicals) I find the formulas to sometimes be a little tricky - and need thinner more often.
when it turns thick just put a tad bit of nail polish remover liquid inside and it will fix it! it will not ruin it!

Do you like how clear nail polish looks?

i love clear, shiny nail polish cos i dont think anything else suits me but i still like some other onesDo you like how clear nail polish looks?
Yeah, I have some on right now actually :)

It makes your nails shiny and glossy, and is really unnoticable if some of it chips :)Do you like how clear nail polish looks?
Yes It's great if you want to make your nails look nice, but subtle. I would suggest using whenever you want, whether it be a formal or informal occasion.
    Nice, natural, shinyy :)
In some occasions yes, but most of the time I prefer color. Clear polish often looks a little fresher though.
a clear polish makes nails look healthy so i like wearing it. :)
    yep.

natural, nice and clean, and shiny
When my nails are shaped and clean, then it looks great.
i like it it looks shiny now can u help me answer my question if you know it

  • Best way to put on nail polish?

    1) Clean off previous nail polish with polish remover

    2) Soak your hands into warmish water for a couple of minutes (so your nails won't suffer damage from the nail polish and turn yellow over time.

    3) Apply a fast-drying 3 based nail polish, or buy the 3 different coats (base, top, shine) of nail polish separate.

    4) Wait a few minutes (10 or so) for nails to dry (don't blow on them if the nail polish isn't fast dry).

    5) Show them off!Best way to put on nail polish?

Why does chlorine chip off nail polish?

i think it is the water in general. If you are swimming a lot, try just some color on your toes and leave your nails short and bare.

What color nail polish goes good with a black dress?

what color nail polish goes good with a black dress? What color nail polish goes good with a black dress?
french, red, blue, yellow.....basically any kind but if you want to go classy try a clear polish. it looks clean and sophisticatedWhat color nail polish goes good with a black dress?
red if you want attention, pale pink if you don't.
Red, black, or hot pink to look good. Yellow, blue, green, or any bright color to have fun and be different/crazy. White is cool too.
    silver, or a dark blue.
Dark Red It Depends How Black The Dress Is.
Something that compliments your skin tone.
Lavendar and even deeper purples are really in right now. I see a lot of that in magazines, but red or pink are good standbys too. Go metallic- I think a metallic polish is much prettier than plain.
As a man, the biggest turnon with a woman wearing a black dress are bright red nails.
    red
    Red.
I think french or red look the best.
    Red
Red would be good, it would add a splash of color to your black dress. Red is always a sexy color anyways, you can't go wrong with it.
    red
I wear pink with black in the summer~~
Like all the girls before me, Red goes good with black. But not everyone looks good with red nail polish. And sometimes it can look trashy or slutty. I would go for a neutral pink. Cover girl makes one called Continuous Color 3 in 1 in a shade called Preppy Pink (I'm not a very preppy person, but...) its in nice shade that looks very sophisticated on everyone. Your other option is a french manicure, you can NEVER go wrong with a french manicure, but you want to get it professionally done because it can look really messy if you try to do it yourself.

    Good luck!
any dark polish depending on the colors of the other clothing your wearing or have a french manicure with the dark polish.
Absoulutely anything goes with black .I like a french manicure because theres something special about it to me and you can never go wrong with it . But if you want to stand out pick a stricking colour like red . The little black dress + red nail polish + red lipstink + mascara + a touch of blusher = A totally timeless and sexy look .
staying natural is the most appealing... just clean and well tailored.
Red cause it's my favourite color!
    1. Black to match

    2. Silver White to get noticed.
    I love a dark red. I personally use OPI's Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ.
any thing goes with black but i would go with red
RED!!!! besides it's my favorite color........go wit red
    Clear

Why doesnt nail polish dry inside the bottle??

my cuzins and i were painting ours and we wanted to find out why!Why doesnt nail polish dry inside the bottle??
It does dry out if you leave the lid off long enough. When you are using it, you dip the brush in, stirring it so the air is not touching the same polish at the surface for long enough to dry.Why doesnt nail polish dry inside the bottle??
Polish contains solvents that evaporate when you apply it and allows the enamel to dry. The solvents cannot evaporate while sealed in the bottle, at least not for a long, long time.
Cause the air can't get in if the bottle is tight enough.

if you had it out in the open it would dry

    and without the cap on

    (:
I think because air has ot make the polish dry, and because the bottles are air-tight, it doesn't dry. Thank gooness for air-tight bottles, right? :)
The bottles are air tight. It takes air to harden the nail polish.
Believe me, after a while it does.

Is breathing nail polish remover bad for your nose?

not good -- for your LUNGS eitherIs breathing nail polish remover bad for your nose?
The chemical in nail polish remover goes to your brain and can cause effect from dizziness to feeling high to death. Yes even from just five minute of doing your nails. you should always use it in a well ventilated area where you don't smell it very much. I have never heard of it doing any damage to the nasal passages unless you actually get some on them, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that repeated exposure over a loong time might cause the cells that detect odors to stop working. Is breathing nail polish remover bad for your nose?
I don't think it is ';Not good,'; but you could get high....so bad for the lungs mainly!
chyeaaa...and not to mention ur brain!!
no of course not. i mean, you are only inhaling dangerous fumes, right? go ahead and try it an let me know how it works out for you while you are in your coma, ok?
Basically the same thing as glue sniffing ... I'd say it is not good for your lungs either
I don't mean to scare you but I think because I was obsessively painting and removing (paint) from my nails for a couple of months when I was younger, I seriously and I'm not joking here, I can't smell anymore. At least not most smells, they have to be super strong for me to smell them and even then, sometimes I can't smell them. So if there is long exposure, then I'm pretty sure the odor detectors could stop working. Just a friendly warning.
It probably is. The smell like hurts your head. I think nail polish has alcohol, so it probably is bad. I think it may kill brain cells.
if u just sit their and breath it, but for the 5 min.while u r doing ur nails it won't hurt.
Not your nose, but if you sniff a ton of it maybe it's like dope?

    LOL
yes the cells in your nose will decompose *dry up and disapear or whatever* and dry your nose but if u put it in your nose der it could go to your brain and burn insides....
i think so.. my biology teacher once told me .. that thats a real good way of killin brain cells.. lol..

so i would take that as a NO its not good
    addictive...

Does finger nail polish remover help heal poison ivy?

I heard through some friends that poison ivy can be treated using finger nail polish remover and am curious if it relally works. after the burning sensation goes away it doesn't itch for a good while.Does finger nail polish remover help heal poison ivy?
No i dont think soDoes finger nail polish remover help heal poison ivy?
Not sure but I do know that clear nail polish takes the itch out of mosquito bite for me. If the poison ivy has really spread I don't think this is the best remedy.
it mat burn because you been scatching and don't do it try calimi lotion ease the pain
NO! Do you realize that acetone is considered an environmental toxin?

Poisin Ivy is an irritating oil. get the oil off your skin as soon as possible without spreading it to other parts of your body. Good old soap and water ASAP very very thoroughly (you can't see the oil like you could if it were dark grease from a bike chain, but the oil from poisin ivy is just as tenacious).

Calamine or ivy-dri is supposed to help, but I never got it so badly that it didn't clear up in a week. I have been working elbow deep in the darned stuff (cutting up a tree for work) and cleaned up immediately and it wasn't too bad.

    Prevention is best though!
i think its just the alcohol part.

because alcohol dries it up and makes it go away better.
I don't know if that work, but I remember my mother, sister, and Grandfather used Bleach to help. This will as burn a little.

    Hope that helps
You really should refrain from putting too much stuff on your rash. Acetone fingernail polish remover probably isn't the best idea. If it hurts or itches you could put some hydrocortisone cream or calamine, but it would be better to take some Benadryl. The less you put on the rash the quicker it will heal!
I dont think so, although, when I got a bug bite that itches really bad I would use clear polish to cut off the air circulation and help w/ the itch. It would go away faster. I never used it for poisen ivy though, thats more of a rash. Use calamine lotion or oatmeal to put over it. If that doesnt help go to the doctor and get a shot in your hiney.
OUCH....whatever you do dont put nailpolish remover on your poison ivy....the only thing that i could think of that might be what your talking about is using clear fingernail polish .....which i dont reccomend that might keep it from spreading but the best bet would be to go to the doctor and get steroids to treat it.
The last time I got into poison ivy I used clorox bleach. The absolute best thing to do is to go to your doctor.
I don't know try it If I ever get posin ivy I might try it

Wearing black nail polish looks cool or does it gives a wrong impression to people especially guys?

many people especilly guys have given me so weird looks that i have a doubt.....my friends tell me that it looks cool.Wearing black nail polish looks cool or does it gives a wrong impression to people especially guys?
Darling, it depends on the overall look, not only the nail polish. If you dress all black you'll probably look Gothic. But if you're sexy and have a good personality, it could be attractive and intriguing.

Anyhow, it's your taste, and shouldn't matter to anyone but you.

    xoxo

GizehWearing black nail polish looks cool or does it gives a wrong impression to people especially guys?
    Looks gothic.
    I prefer french manicure.
Personally i like black fingernail Polish. I dont see nothin wrong with it. Some may look at u as weird or a Gothic person, but if worn with the right clothes it looks great. Keep wearin it if u like it, fu** everyone else.
I say if you like to wear it, do so.

I used to think it was a faux pas -- then came NCIS with that little lab woman Abbey (Pauley Paulette) and now my whole orientation to things goth has been changed.

You have to go with what you feel on the matter if they're your fingernails !
Black nail polish is a trend right now. I think it's cute. If you like it wear it, and don't worry what anyone else thinks. They obviously do not understand fashion trends.
Maybe you should get new friends, it looks nasty.
Cool only in some circles.(Goth, Heroin sheik ).To most it looks trashy and depressing.Unless you're in a band or something I'd say no. An added note Re: those who say ';Who cares what others think'; Is'nt the idea for it to look good to those others?
Black nail polish is a haneous color, to say the least. If you are wearing because your friends say it's cool, then obviously you need a little help in the fashion department. Unless you are going to an everlasting Halloween party and you're dressed like Vampira, then black is defintely NOT fine.

Most people will see you as a degenerate and someone who is just trying to be a ';Goth'; wannabee. I know that sounds harsh, but it's true. Try wearing another dark color like dark blue, dark green, brown, etc as an alternative.

You're young, so experiment a little! When you get into your 30's, you can't do that anymore! Have fun and I hope I helped! :)
society --- men and women both --- tend to look down their nose at anything out of the ';norm';. If you are doing it because YOU like it, then do it. If you are doing it to be cool and with the in crowd, then don't. I say, be yourself. Personally, I don't care for the look at all.
    black nail polish is hot!
Its up to you what you want to wear. I like it though.
What impression do you want to give? Friends are not always the best ones to depend on for fashion advice. look to current publications to see what is the current trend in mainstream fashion.

I can usually tell some ones age by 2 major things.. Their ';slang'; %26amp; if they are are dressing %26amp; using cosmetics in a extreme way. Both make them seem young.
It looks good on certain people
It looks very shity, not cool at all.

    Try light brown.
Your friends lied to you. I dont know if you care how people in New York City views this kind of style but we usually think it is someone who is whether gothic or into punk rock and that whole heavy metal stuff. Not attractive basically.

BTW thats how you know your friends are full of **** when they give you false compliments just because they afraid to tell you the truth. See you even noticed strangers weird looks. Thats gotto tell you something.
I was in fashion last season if that worries your or not...I don't wear it as it's too goth for my style. So to guys it's kinda dark I think.
    i don't know
I think the sheer fact that you question it is your answer. You need to consider ';why'; you wear it.

I personally think it looks goth - and I don't like goth. I also personally think it looks dirty and slutty. It makes most people past the age of 17 think ';death'; - which is a real turnoff. I agree, it gives the wrong impression - especially to guys. But there again, that's my personal opinion.

Having said that, I agree with the person who suggested that black polish really doesn't look good with most skin tones and possibly you should try another ';dark'; color if it's simply the dark polish that you like.
    It is bland and boring.
ive seen it in fashion. be yourself.
it looks like a terrible waste of your sharpie.
You know what? It doesn't matter what people think! I mean, you're just making a fashion statement. Everyone has their own fashion taste, and black nail polish is yours. So people look at you weird, so what? Who are they to judge?
I think it's cool but it depends on the person.

For example barbie-like girls wearing black nail polish look really stupid.
Personally it gives me the impression that the person who wear the black nail polish isn't very friendly with manicure
I was just reading in cosmo that darker nail polishes on short nails are coming back in style. Unfortunately it's always going to be seen as ';goth'; which so many people think is freaky. I say wear it anyways and f*ck the people giving you weird looks.
I am 30 and love black nail polish. Who cares what other people think.. it's just nail polish
For ';fun';, it looks cool, but as a fashion statement it gives the air of gloom, death and mourning.

People originally wore black nail polish as a sign that they wished they were dead or related to the dead.
    I think it looks gross.
It gives the wrong immpression...Best wishes
It says ';I am into the Goth scene and your plainly American boy dress/attitude is not for me'; Unless you want to subliminally say this, do not wear black nail polish. Otherwise, crank up the Cure and say hello to your new boyfriend with the lip rings.

Guys: do you prefer girls with or without nail polish?

    i dont really care...

(should i)my wash hair after putting on nail polish?

is that okay...the polish is dry(should i)my wash hair after putting on nail polish?
if your completely sure its solid dry then wash your hair. if its still alittle wet then dont, it will scratch your nails. i've tried washing my hair after polishing my nails once, they got ruined cuz they werent completely dry(should i)my wash hair after putting on nail polish?
ya its all fine but ur nail polish is totally dried .... enjoy ur shower.
no, you need your nail polish to dry first and when it does dry, it might chip so i wouldnt!!!
As long as it's dry, it should be fine.
    sure why not?

Would orange nail polish look good with dark hands?

or any other kinds of light color nail polish i have tan handsWould orange nail polish look good with dark hands?
Yeah! i always love bright colours on colored people!Would orange nail polish look good with dark hands?
My friend wore pastel nail polish the other day... didn't look so good. Bright colors will look fine (such as bright green and white), I just wouldn't reccomend light golds or pastels...

Is elf nail polish good quality?

I've never tried it myself, I prefer Sally Hansen New Lengths.

What happens if you paint your teeth with nail polish?

i know this sounds dumb.. but my friend paints her teeth with white nail polish and they are REALLY white!!! i was thinking about it, but i really don't want any bad to happen in the long run... so can u help me plz

n thx! What happens if you paint your teeth with nail polish?
No it is not white nail polish but what is called Crest Night Effects or Colgate Simply White Night. It works great but it's temporary. But it is NOT fingernail polish. What happens if you paint your teeth with nail polish?
probably causes cancer or something along those lines. it really sounds like a stupid idea besides the fact that you are painting your teeth with a chemical that can be poisonous.
u would die cos its dangerous to swallow nail polish..

    ..;-)
who does that kind of thing? NOT NORMAL

What color nail polish should i wear?

i have fair skin. my nails are not long. i have long fingersWhat color nail polish should i wear?
it all depends on what you're most comfortable with... I find that some people are more suited for light coloured nail, like pink, polish and other people should wear dark, like dark purple or black. Try out some different colours and see what you feel more comfortable in.

I think red looks good on anyone though! What color nail polish should i wear?
well it all depends on ur emotinal life if you want to do colors you feel like so here are some

    black: gothic,emo,sad

    purple:sad,and happy

    red: angry

    yellow: excited

    blue: sort of sad

green:all of the about or sparkles is all the above too..

I hoped this helped also u can do colors in between and give them a new name
you can never go wrong with the color ORANGE! haha actually im sorry but i know absolutely nothing about make-up/nail polish..sorry
Black. It's sporty and goes with everything. Make sure you put a coat of clear on under the black or your nails will turn yellow.
Wear a neon color . Like lime green or hot pink even better idea paint them lime green and put hot pink dots on them useing a pen or pencil.

    Vote me as best!!

Maybe a nice bright purple color or a nice pink?

If you are darker type, maybe a coffee? I wear coffee coloured nail polish and it makes my hands look really cute
    maybe dark blue

    dark purple

    light pink

    most reds

french manicure, which is clear with white

    black

    peach

    dark orange

    pastel
go with a girly pink. it looks cute on short nails and will go good with your skin tone!
The color that matches your clothes for that day.
Orange and black, or orange, or black
i like red nail polish, deep purple.

i have fair skin too and that's what looks best on me
dark! try a dark purple from OPI's french collection.
lets see red or lime green.
go with a color that will stand out, without being too much, like blue
i would go for a bright sleek color
    Black

    HOt pink

    both
    dark blue
    red
umm...maybe pink or red. purple...? depends what u wear

Is nail enamel the same as regular nail polish? If so, how do you remove it!?!?

Yep, it's just a fancier name for it. Some people also like to call it ';nail varnish'; but I like to keep it simple and just call it ';nail polish'; myself.

So, yeah, any basic nail polish remover should work for you.

    Good luck! =)

Do you think its trashy to have chiped nail polish?

Men and womenDo you think its trashy to have chiped nail polish?
I think it looks bad but I have to do the dishes all the time and it never stays on! I have chipped right now!Do you think its trashy to have chiped nail polish?
Ok sometimes we just get lazy and don't remove it when the corner is chipped but when you see those girls with like a dot in the middle because it's chipped away, that's just nasty and yes it looks trashy and dirty.
Not really trashy, but once it starts to chip a person should just take it all off. If they leave it on it begins to look real ugly.
it depends where your going but just like a normal everyday thing (like school) no it doesn't girls aren't going to have their nails perfect for schoool..
i dont think its trashy like i understand if its on nail but like whne its all the nails its bothersome lol
no its not i think it looks cool

did your grandma tell you that? cuz mine tells me that all the time

Does the red nail polish from sports girl stain you nails??

i just brought it and am wearing it now!Does the red nail polish from sports girl stain you nails??
All red and even some pink nail polishes stain the nails yellow. Always use a base coat-- unless you're like me and the yellow tint doesnt bother you, I awalys use a a red / pink anyways.Does the red nail polish from sports girl stain you nails??
a lot of the reds do, do what i do, paint your nails 1st with a coat of clear varnish, then paint on the red on top, it gives a perfect finish without the stains, good luck

  • FOR GUYS: Do nail polish colors on females' nails tell you anything?

I was just wondering if the colors we put on our nails make impressions on you... lol... FOR GUYS: Do nail polish colors on females' nails tell you anything?
    To a certain extent

If I see black nail polishes, I think goth, emo, punk, etc

If I see bright colors, I think fun

If I see reds, I think high maintenance

JMHO, lol!FOR GUYS: Do nail polish colors on females' nails tell you anything?
Nice Question :)...It probably doesn't...I mean unless the girl talks with her hands (gestures)..I doubt a guy will even notice. But, im assuming colours like Crimson Red say that the girl will be mature and fun or soemthing, and then black might say I unno, and then pinks and stuff will say ';Girly';. :).
good question but i doubt they notice i mean its the first thing i notice on a person. but im guessing theyd be uninterested but thoses semi neon colors thast looks like puke
sucks that we spend so much time on those kind of things,

    and guys don't even notice,

let alone let our nailpolish say something about us.
hahah something tells me most of the time they dont even notice.
Not really. It usually tells me that they're kind of girly and I like that.
    Nope
yes if it is orange it means they like u
no not at all... we dont care about small things like that

    Simple nail polish question?

My friend gave me hot pink (and it's reallly bright!) nail polish for christmas. I wanna wear it to school tomorrow with clear nail polish in a french tip fashion. Is bright hot pink just a summer/spring shade? Are french tips just a summer look?Simple nail polish question?
I think french tips are great all year round! And i really think you should try the hot pink for french tips becuz i think it sounds really cute.Simple nail polish question?

Fast way of drying nail polish?

man, today is just not my day. ive been trying to apply this nail polish since yesterday night and its the sweetest shade of baby pink. its so light that it needs about three coats. i wait hours before i apply the new coat but it still wont dry fast enough!Fast way of drying nail polish?
stick your hands in the freezer for 2 minutes.

in nail salons, they don't wait for each coat to dry before applying a new one.Fast way of drying nail polish?
    Youre talking hours? Whoaa

Heres what I do, after i finished putting one coat, i rinse it with cold water from the sink and blow on it for 2 seconds, then it drys. So i can put another coat.

But if that doesnt work in your case then dry buying the same shade somewhere else with a well known and trusted brand.

    Good luck
They have spray you can buy at the local drugstore. It dries it fairly quickly. Sometimes I use that and use the hairdryer on cool if I am in a hurry.
    put it towards the fan
After 30 seconds of it have been applied, apply a clear coat, that usually helps them dry way faster!

    %26lt;3 chloe
Fill a basin with cold water and then just dunk your nails in. Hold them in there for about 10-20 seconds and they should come out dry =)
id use a fan or use some spray stuff
What i find helpful is to do stuff like watch tv which doesn't really involve using your hands (except for changing the channel) and your nails will be dry before you know it! I think that it is just the brand of nail polish. I have painted my nails in really cute colors and they dry in about two minutes, and don't cost any more than any other nail polish.
is that polish new??? if not, or it's been sitting in a hot car -- it's probably gotten too gooeyy. if that's the case, thin it out with some 'acetone' remover. then go at it. NOW, this sounds gross . . .maybe, but i SWEAR it works. after giving it a little time to dry (a few minutes), lick it! as your lick dries, so will the polish. ALSO, if it's still wet and you nick it, lick it smooth!! seriously, your tongue, for some reason, doesn't mess it up, but smooths it out nicely! it has a very little chemical taste at first, but the second time, nothing. i lick mine and hold them out the windo. they dry better in cold weather out the moon roof . . . lol. hope my top secret trick works for you!
Try putting your hands near a fan not to close but enough to blow air on them to dry the polish

How do you get nail polish out of carpet!????!!?

nail polish remover? i used it on a pair of jeans and it took it out and didn't discolor it at all.How do you get nail polish out of carpet!????!!?
Its going to be tricky. I have a rather large spot of purple nail polish on my bedroom carpet (which my husband still hasn't noticed!) covered up with an area rug. I tried nail polish remover, but I'd waited a little too long after it spilled and it didn't do enough. I think the only way I'm going to get my spill up at least is next time the professional carpet cleaners come.
    get nail polish remover.

or if you have that shaggy carpet and it's just a little spot, carefully snip it out.

if it's a small spot, you won't even notice.
Nail polish its self is hard to get out. So you will need some strong chemicals. Try nail polish remover or bleach. And scrub scrub scrub.

try killing(not literally) your hands in nail polish. y don't you leave your nails yellow???
scrub your tub or shower w/ clorox cleaning spray it will bleach your nails back and you'll have a clean tub or shower you can just spray it on your nails i clean everything with it doesnt dry out ur hands best stuff for cleaning too pretty much everywhere good luck
literally soak them in a bowl of nail polish remover that contains acetone until the natural color restores and the yellow goes away.
just try using nail polish removal but changing the cotton ball often so you don't keep rubbing the nail polish that u removed...it might still be there but it fade out soon
dilute bleach and soak your hands?

hmmmm i dont know though honestly that will really dry your hands out.
Yuck, that is a BAD situation. I would try soaking them in lemon juice. I would also try a white vinegar soak. If all else fails make an appointment at a reputable beauty salon and get them to try to fix the problem. Word for the wise if it can soak into your fingernails then it is probably soaking into your body. Look up your beauty products toxicity here http://skindeep.ewg.org/index.php

If you intentionally chip off your nail polish can that be bad for the nail itself, even with a base coat?

In the short term no but over time as nail varnish takes the first layer of the nail with it your nails will become weaker. Its better if you use an acetone-free nail varnish remover. If you intentionally chip off your nail polish can that be bad for the nail itself, even with a base coat?
no, trust me, it's a bad habit i have and i do it all the time.If you intentionally chip off your nail polish can that be bad for the nail itself, even with a base coat?

get some new nail polish remover and try.How to remove black nail polish?
Any plain old nail polish remover should do the trick.

What I think is the real problem is the brand of black nail polish that you use.

I'm an avid ';black'; nail polish wearer myself, and here are a few tricks of the trade that I've learned over time:

    - Don't be a penny pincher when in it comes to nail polish, prices really do set the bar for the quality of polish that you're getting. The pricier ones do last longer and are prone not to chip off, not to mention, the chemicals that they use leave your nails looking healthy.

    - ALWAYS add a base coat to your polish, no matter what color. A clear base coat reduces the risk of color attaching itself to your nails, which I think may have been your problem.

    - The first coat after your base should be minimal as possible. Then really lay on the second coat. Anymore than that, and you're asking for a chip to happen.

If none of the suggestions help, than you might want to consider investing in industrial strength ammonia, to remove the polish in the future.
A nail polish remover will take it off. It just takes a lot more work than a lighter color would. I don't know what else to tell you. I've never thought a tooth paste or lemon juice would take off nail polish; they are not as acidy as a nail polish remover. Acetone is meant to take off nail polish. I wear black nail polish periodically and I have taken it off several times. It turns to a darkish purple when you lightly scrub the black nail polish with the remover. Just keep at it, it'll come off.
This is about to sound weird, but you have to dissolve laundry detergent in a cup of hot water. Dip a cloth in the hot water. Put the cloth onto your nails and rub hard. Repeat three times. This should remove the nail polish. If it doesn't work, repeat. Make sure the water is hot. This is what you have to do when you have a hard time removing shoe polish, but it removes nail polish too.
I know! My cousin told me that black nail polish was in so I put so much on- no matter how much nail polish remover I applied it refused to come out! But usually black nail polish comes out- dont put too much on at once or use a cheap, bad brand!

use vinegar? it helps- i def know that: experience: it amkes your hands stink for quite a while though!

If you want it done, go to a manicurist at Walmart for like 5 bucks!

or if you want to get it done faster, try using the lemon trick :)

    GOOD LUCK!
make sure your nail polish remover has an ingredient acetone if not it won't remove a lot of nail polishes. you could try rubbing alcohol or could scratch it off and if you can bring your self to pay 3.50 a gallon to buy it gasoline will clean up anything but be sure to wash your hands really good after.
Look in your bathroom cabinet for a bottle of alcohol. It should work to take it off. Also, use a paper towel and really scrub at the nail polish. You could try a nail file and and it off if you have to.

    Good luck! =]
Black nail polish should just come off with nail polish remover. If it can't then seriously consider not using that nail polish again.
It shouldn't be that hard to get it off. But once you get most of it off make sure to try and get around the edges. Otherwise it looks like u have dirt in there.
Well, I use hydrochloric acid to get mine off when it won't work..but I'm not going to tell you how to do that..it's dangerous :P

McCally has the right idea, buff it off with a nail file.
nail polish remover works for me dont use the stuff u have to put on kleenex the other stuff :P:P
just take band aids soak the white parts in remover put 1 over each nail an wait. it will get it soggy till it comes off.
    Nail polish remover.

Or soak your nails in water, and chip

it off the old fashion way.
    nail polish remover
any kind of nail polish remover
Scrub with rubbing alchohol or vinigar
try to use nail polish only put it on a paper towel and then wipe your nail off usually works for me
    nail polish remover always works

    soak them in it
Use a nail file and buff it off. I've had to do it with blue polish
lots of nail polish remover, and take a pad, and really scrub it off!
    Try to chip it off.
I pick mine off while im in class....

  • (GUYS!) What is the sexiest color of nail polish?

I have a medium skin color.(GUYS!) What is the sexiest color of nail polish?
Not a guy, but red, pink, or even black is very popular. Especially french manicure is very flattering.

Hope I helped. :)(GUYS!) What is the sexiest color of nail polish?
It does depend on the tone of your skin, but I really like some of the colors that look different that what you typically see. Like the holographics and color-changers (dependent on the angle of light that hits it). I've always really liked red, but you have to hit on the right red for you or it looks all wrong. And you have to have the nails for it. Great nails with the right red is about as sexy as you can get!!!

Pink is always good. I even like some of the medium and darker blues (not light though...), some greens too (shimmers but not too light). What I don't really like are the really dark colors on girls - especially on short nails, not sure why. They're okay on toes though (girls and guys) : )

Now, if you're really in a crazy mood, try an orange shimmer, hot pink or even a bright blue shimmer. Those colors will catch the eye of guys who have style and an interest in someone who is not the boring type.

BTW, keep in mind that guys don't see color as brightly as girls do, so even if you think it's a bright color, ask a guy you know to make sure. They may think it's ';just right';!
Im not a guy but yeah Red or a nice blue i thinkk soo sorry if you wanted only guys

    Is this cute ?

    http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind鈥?/a>
Reds are always sexy but I think a darker red or maroon looks more sophisticated than bright red. A lavender or shade of purple can look good too.
I'm not a guy but I adore black nail polish on light-medium tones!

Same goes for purple and dark blue.

I hae a Rimmel one at the moment in orange and it doesnt go on nice, so anyone know of good brand? I cant get to mac or any department store so it will have to be one i can get in boots or superdrug. thanksAnyone know a good nail polish brand?
NO7Anyone know a good nail polish brand?
My favorite are by OPI and Essie, and Seche Vite makes the best fast dry top coat that makes any polish long lasting. I have seen these brands in drugstores now. Also, Milani is a drugstore brand that is also good and has cute, fashion colors.
Tesco own brand is good. Is goes on nice and thin and smooth so you can build it up to the density that you want. It also doesn't chip easily. :)
Sally Hansen, Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear -- comes in a variety of fun, bright colours, applies easily, and it pretty cheap. It doesn't flake off easily either, and stays on a long time.
chanel nail varnish is really good and so is nails inc but if you cant get to a department store then try barry m it cheap and loads of colours to choose from
Sallys Beauty sells OPI and China Glaze which are both awesome finger nail polishes. I highly recommend them both!

Another vote here for OPI - from a beauty therapist - its the best, and can get it in some boots stores.

What r some good nail polish colors for summer?

Neons were definitely ';in'; last summer, and some of the fashion laggers noticed and are starting to use it now. Colors such as those in the seasonal summer section of Essie Cosmetics (http://www.essie.com/seasonal/) are absolutely great for summer. Right now, I'm using O.P.I. Coney Island Cotton Candy, love it, and have gotten tons of compliments - even from a saleslady at Bergdorf Goodman. Lighter, warm toned and more natural colors will serve you best for the summer. What r some good nail polish colors for summer?

My nail polish gets tiny bubbles in it?

why does this happen? My nail polish gets tiny bubbles in it?
If you shake your nailpolish vigorously, that's why. Next time just roll it gently between your palms to mix and you shouldn't have any more air bubbles. Also when polish gets old this happens too. :)My nail polish gets tiny bubbles in it?
Don't shake it! Roll it between your palms! What a difference, and who knew! Also keep it in your fridge in a little basket or bowl, will last twice as long!
that happens to me too! i think it might happen if you blow air on wet nails or wave them around too much.
Roll it between your palms instead of shaking it before you apply.
you probally need to shake the bottle befor placing it on your nails
me too. roll the bottle before applying it in ur palm. this helps remove them
    its probably cheap nail polish
its air bubbles so shake it before u use it.
my dose the same well most of them and then others dont maby its the brand
uhmm...it may be that you aren't shaking the nail polish bottle enough before applying it and/or you are applying thick layers of nail polish instead of thin, even layers. hope i helped :]
POUR SOME FINGER NAIL POLISH REMOVER IN IT JUST A LITTLE AN DSHAK EIT UP :-)ATLEAST THAT WHAT HELPS MY POLISH
NO,don't shake the bottle. That is what causes the bubbles.

Roll the bottle between your palms until it is mixed.

That should keep the bubbles from forming and being transferred to your nails.
Most of the time they're air bubbles, or could be a tiny clump in the paint.
You bought carbonated nail polish, next time buy the still stuff.

Probably because you're keeping it some place warm, the solvents will vaporise and come out as bubbles in the nail polish
too watery---the brand stinks --not enough chemicals

buy a new one---no nailpolish is usually like this....

Are nail polish remover (stick your finger in) containers used at salons sanitary if used by multiple people?

My salon uses acetone polish remover. I overheard another customer talking that it wasn't sanitary to use the same container as other people. Acetone removes superglue, so what bugs are going to grow in acetone?????Are nail polish remover (stick your finger in) containers used at salons sanitary if used by multiple people?
Acetone kills germs %26amp; bacteria, no worries at all.

Did you ever wonder about how many nails one bottle of polish covers? Same thing, the chemicals in the polish kills germs %26amp; bacteria as well.

When you go to sit down you should see a container that contains impliments, those should contain some sort of santitizer as well. I wouldn't worry about the dangers unless you see the implaments sitting around on the table.

    Good Luck,

Stylist %26amp; Manicurist of 9 yrs.Are nail polish remover (stick your finger in) containers used at salons sanitary if used by multiple people?
I don't see any way bacteria can grow in acetone. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you see somebody bleeding into it and you have a cut on your finger, but acetone is not a friendly environment to germs. And always wash your hands no matter what.
fungus is very common in nail salons. Most salons have a extra charge to get your own tools so no one else will use them but you. Now not all salons have this. My friend went to the nail salon all the time and she always used what everyone else used and got very nasty looking nails. They were sticking up and green and brown colored. If you go to a salon alot see if they can get you your own tool set. If not try to find another nail salon!
    salons are good. trust me
i always use acetone to remove nail polish unless it comes off by itself. my mom said that if u use it too much, something bad will happen to ur nails i think. always wash ur hands after. u shouldn't think too much about anything bugs and stuff growing in the acetone. and don't let the acetone get on ur skin.good luck! i hope this helps.
I have no idea what acetone is or if it has any disinfecting properties, but even if it doesn't those things are gross and I wouldn't use them.

Just think how unsanitary EVERYTHING is in a salon. Make up...they use the same brushes and makeup on everyone...when is the last time you saw a hairdresser disinfect a hair brush? Please...especially at those cheap $10 hair cut places...talk about passing on lice or psoriasis or whatever. Gross, gross, gross...the less time I spend in places like that the better. I can do my own home treatments!!
acetone is like seriously acid so it basically sanitized and kills everything. I really doubt its unsanitary, probably just some old bitty tryin to start trouble.
    probably none!
I don't think any bacteria or anything would survive in there. They use the same nail files on people, that concerns me.
It is fine, because it is topical. It is important that the other tools that could scrape your skin are sterilized.

Will Goo Gone take nail polish out of my BRAND NEW jeans?

I was painting my friends nails and the nail polish fell and a huge spot of it is now on my new jeans. I immediately used nail polish remover which didnt do much. That all happened yesterday so now the nail polish is dry. i read online that Goo Gone is good to take out those kind of stains, but i used it and it hasnt done anything yet. Help?!Will Goo Gone take nail polish out of my BRAND NEW jeans?
The product that is most recommended to remove nail polish is a simple non-oily or acetone nail polish remover. Whatever you use to remove nail polish, do not use bleach, as it will leave large white spots on your fabric. Although acetone nail polish remover can be very harsh to fabrics, most will withstand a spot treatment. Some say that non-acetone nail polish remover can be less harsh than acetone when used to remove nail polish. However, fabrics made of acetate will be severely damaged with acetone. If the nail polish spill occurs on an acetate fabric, it should be professionally laundered or cleaned in order to remove nail polish. It is important to catch the nail polish stain as early as possible to avoid drying and setting. Test the fabric with acetone in an inconspicuous area for colorfastness.Attack the spot with a bit of acetone on a clean cloth. Try not to get too much into the fabric鈥檚 fibers to prevent damage. Dab and blot to remove nail polish from the fabric. Keep blotting until color no longer transfers to the cloth. Use as much acetone as necessary to keep removing the nail polish. If color remains, you may have to bring out the bigger guns and go to work using your muscle and a stiff brush. Depending on the strength of the fabric, scrubbing to remove the nail polish may do the trick. I hope this helps!!!! If not get more polish and put it all over the jeans as a design and start a trend/fashion statement.

Try acetone from Home Depot or some other hardware store. If it gets it out, let the acetone evaporate completely then wash the jeans by themselves. Don't dry them in the dryer just yet. If the stain is gone, wash them again and then you can dry them and use the washer for other clothes as acetone is flammable and you don't want to blow up your dryer.
I do not think so. Goo-Gone contains d-Limonene, a natural solvent from the oils in citrus skins. It works much like petroleum distillates like mineral spirits and naphtha (or even turpentine). But none of those solvents will dissolve cured lacquer or acrylic, the common nail polish substances. It works well on waxes, grease, inks, etc., but not nail polish.
try SOL-U-MEL, works awesome on all kinds of stains, smells, glues, etc...

OK, there's the list of links below to start with. My favorite site for this type of stuff -- eHow.com -- I've started you out with how to clean fingernail polish out of your carpet, with tips from users on how to do that, how to remove colored fruit drinks from carpet, how to deep clean your carpet, tips on that as well, and how to remove a whole list of carpet stains. This site is searchable for lots of other cleaning tips as well. Hope this helps. Good luck!!
I have had both types of stains and had professionals come out to remove (I was trying to sell) and was told by several that it was impossible to remove these substances. If the areas are not too big cut out the stain and get a piece the same size from a closet corner and glue it in place. Fluff up the area and you can't tell. ( I sold the house in 12 days) Good luck!

    Nail Polish..how to remove?!?

I have a quarter size spot of nail polish on my carpet. How do I go about removing it? Would nail polish remover smear it even worse?Nail Polish..how to remove?!?
all you got toget is some nail polish removerNail Polish..how to remove?!?
nail varnish remover is the only way to remove it (unless you can cut it out without it noticing - which is more possible on long carpet) but be very careful and do it slowly with a cotton bud, so you are not smearing it over the adjoining carpet but lifting it off. I would also suggest putting masking tape around the adjoining carpet.
I should say it too with nail polish remover if not change the carpet
    I think it would!
If you try and clean it, it will smear all over the place and you will never get it all out. You might be better to live with a dark quarter-size stain. Just make sure to only dab at it and don't rub.
ALL U NEED IS SOME NAIL POLISH REMOVER
use pure alcohol. and yes it would

Plantar warts and nail polish remover?

Every summer is when I start doing my nails again. I bought a new kind of nail polish remover, ';Sally Hansens Extra strength';. I've had plantars warts on my hands for the last 2 years, and on my feet for 3. Ever since switching to this new nailpolish remover they have been drastically shrinking in size, and some are even 100% gone! Seeing that this was working, I've been using a q-tip to dab it on the few warts that are left to get them gone-asap.. I hate these guys!

I am just wondering if I am harming my body more than doing good to it?? I probably only have another week or two left of applying it.. is it safe enough?Plantar warts and nail polish remover?
No, you are not harming your body but be sure to keep the nail polish remover on the wart itself as it will dry out the surrounding skin. Nail polish and nail polish remover are home remedies that have been used with success on some people. Glad it is working for you!Plantar warts and nail polish remover?
That is a excellent old home remedy.........

I don't think you would be harming your body . you put it on your nails and it is absorbed a little tha t way.......

if it works for you great. planters warts are a pain to deal with at best. I am glad you found some relief.

To be on safe side if it was me.

I would drink extra water. take my vitamins and work on building my immune sytem up. Your body will think you for it.

That is just good health sense. Smart gurl realizing that your skin is a living organ and what we put on our skin is absorbed in our body.
no, you aren't harming your body. you are depriving the warts of air. another method of getting rid of those warts once and for all is duck tape. if what you are doing is working, keep doing it. the other routes are cryotherapy (getting them frozen off) or having them actually cut out of your body.
